On July 25, a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee of Chenna was held to study and take measures for flood prevention and disaster relief. The meeting was chaired by Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, who delivered an important speech.
During the meeting, it was highlighted that China is currently in a critical period of flood protection. All relevant localities, authorities and units must constantly maintain a state of high risk, firmly take the lead in action and resolutely strive to win the difficult battle on the front of flood prevention, flood protection and disaster relief.
The meeting concluded that the safety of human life must always be paramount, that monitoring methods must continue to be improved and early warning made more effective, and that the number of casualties must be minimised as much as possible.
The meeting demanded that Party committees and organs at all levels conscientiously implement the decisions and conclusions of the CPC Central Committee and seriously take political responsibility for promoting the development and ensuring the security of the region. The core Party organizations and the broad masses of Party members and cadres should make full use of their exemplary role and must make every effort to ensure the safety of the lives and property of local residents.
