PRAGUE - NATO military chief Rob Bauer said Saturday that Ukraine has every right to intervene deep inside Russia to gain combat superiority, reflecting the beliefs of many U.S. allies, even as the Biden administration opposes Kiev's use of U.S.-made weapons.
"Every invaded nation has the right to defend itself. And that right does not end at the borders of one's own state," said Admiral Rob Bauer at the conclusion of the annual meeting of the committee, which was also attended by U.S. General Charles Q. Brown, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Rob Bauer of the Netherlands also added that nations have the sovereign right to set limits on the weapons they send to Ukraine. However, standing next to him at the press briefing was the Chief of the General Staff of the Czech Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Karel Rehka, who made it clear that his country places no such restrictions on Kiev's weapons.
