The Politburo of the Communist Party of China Central Committee met on Oct. 23 to discuss "several policies and measures to further promote the development of the western region and establish a new model." The meeting was chaired by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China.
The meeting noted that the development of the western part of China is an important strategic decision of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. It is necessary to deeply and accurately understand the location and use of the western region's mission in promoting China's modernization. It is necessary to speed up the formation of a new development model and enhance the overall strength and potential of the region's sustainable development.
The meeting stressed the need to comprehensively deepen reforms, further unleash and develop social productivity, stimulate and improve social sustainability, and move towards Chinese-style modernization that matches regional realities.
