Chinese President Xi Jinping has conferred honours on academics, some of whom have been awarded top honours for their contributions to the development of Chinese science and technology.
Si also delivered a speech at the award ceremony for scientists and engineers for their research achievements.
"After the 18th Party Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China implemented the strategy of developing innovation, outlined the strategic mission to build a country for innovation, and continuously deepened the reforms in science and technology. China has made great progress in new research and strategic advanced technologies," Xi Jinping said.
Xi pointed out that during its scientific and technological experience, China has insisted on the leadership of the Communist Party of China, an independent innovation path with Chinese characteristics, reform, education, as well as open cooperation.
Xi pointed out that a new round of scientific and technological revolution is rapidly advancing and reshaping global order and development. China needs to increase scientific and technological innovation.
