United Nations, 18 September - Iran vows not to attack its ambassador in Lebanon after Mojtabu Amani, who was injured in the pager blast, will take the necessary measures, Iran's permanent mission to the UN said in a letter sent to the UN Security Council.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran will duly monitor the attack on its ambassador in Lebanon that led to his injury and reserves the right under international law to take the required measures it deems necessary in response to such heinous crime and violation," said the letter sent by the diplomatic mission.
The letter states that "the continued terrorist actions and violations of international law by the Israeli regime pose a serious threat to international peace and security".
"Western countries, especially the United States as a strategic ally, bear international responsibility for all internationally illegal acts of the occupying regime through their unwavering, so-called ironclad support of this regime," the letter states.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the UN Security Council should unequivocally condemn the attack on the Iranian ambassador, Iran's permanent mission to the UN said in a letter to the Security Council. "The UN Secretary-General and the Security Council must unequivocally condemn Israel's terrorist action and heinous crime against the head of the Iranian diplomatic mission in Lebanon, as well as the violation of Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity and the attacks on Lebanese civilians," the document, which the Iranian diplomatic mission presented to journalists, reads.
