Sládek's history of properly bitter Radegast beer is writing a new chapter. For the first time in its history, the brewery in Nosovice has its own brewer. Jana Tovaryšová has become the seventh continuation of the brewer's craft at Radegast since the first batch of beer was brewed in Nošovice in 1970.
Jana Tovaryšová graduated from the University of Chemical Technology in Prague, where she specialized in bioengineering, a field combining microbiology and technology. She started her brewing career in 2014 at the Radegast Brewery in Nošovice. After a two-year internship and a trainee program, she worked as production coordinator, later she was in charge of the malt house and at the beginning of 2024 she took over the management of the brewing and fermentation department. In September, she officially took over the brewing baton from Petr Kwaczek, a long-time brewer in Nosovice, who moved on to become manager of the Slovak brewery Šariš, which, like Radegast, is part of Plzeňský Prazdroj.
"Jana Tovaryšová confirmed her great brewing talent with us. She has demonstrated both exceptional professional qualities and the ability to lead a team of dozens of people. She has gained respect thanks to her systematic approach, sense of teamwork, diligence and ability to listen to other opinions," says the manager of Pivovar Radegast Ivo Kaňák and adds:"I am looking forward to working with Jana, because her passion and enthusiasm are an inspiration not only for our entire team, but also for the entire brewing craft."
As the new brewmaster of Radegast Brewery, Jana Tovaryšová will be responsible not only for the production of beer, but also for the continuous modernization of the operation while maintaining traditional brewing procedures and adhering to high quality standards.
"Czech beer has a great reputation in the world, and that inspired me a lot to choose this profession. Although our brewing industry is firmly based on tradition, it is constantly evolving, which fascinates me and drives me forward," explains the choice of the professional brewer of the Radegast Brewery Jana Tovaryšová.
The daily work of the Radegast brewery's maltster includes, for example, ensuring and controlling the quality of the brewery's basic raw materials, including the production of malt in the brewery's own malt house, observing beer recipes and the correctness of the fermentation and lagering process, tasting beer in the production process and also the finished product, so that every beer that leaves the brewery's gates is of the best quality.
In her spare time, Jana Tovaryšová enjoys active exercise and trips to the countryside by bike or on foot.
