Xi Jinping praises Chinese farmers' efforts and calls for rural development

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, expressed congratulations and support to farmers ahead of the seventh harvest festival. He stressed the need to improve the economic benefits of agriculture, increase farmers' incomes and revitalize rural areas. Although China has faced natural disasters, he expected a bountiful harvest, which will boost economic recovery and modernization.
