Chinese envoy calls for de-escalation of Lebanon-Israel situation

China's envoy on Wednesday called on the UN Security Council to take urgent measures to de-escalate the Lebanese-Israeli situation.

"The Security Council has the primary responsibility for maintaining international peace and security," Fu Cong, China's permanent representative to the UN, told a Security Council briefing on the Lebanese-Israeli situation.
