The flat track weekend in Pardubice culminated in the oldest race in the world, the 76th Golden Helmet was won by Danish racer Rasmus Jensen, who left all other riders behind in a thrilling grand finale and was allowed to put on a beautiful golden helmet. Second place went to Robert Chmiel from Poland and third place to Mathias Pollestad from Norway.
The 30-year-old Jensen is another of the Danish riders who have won the Golden Helmet in Svítkov and with fourteen first places he is close to the Czech riders who have won the trophy fifteen times. The last time in 2017 was Václav Milík.
The best of the Czechs was Jan Kvěch, who finished in 7th place. Twenty-two year old Kvěch had both good and bad luck. Kvěch almost got shot down by Andžejs Lebeděvs in the opening run of the third quarter-final group. Kvěch managed to avoid the falling Latvian in the first turn, but as he tried to avoid the fall, the turn brought him to the curb. He won the re-run, while Lebedjevs did not enter the next race and was replaced by the traditional substitute of the famous race Jaroslav Petrák. On the other hand, Kvěch was lucky in the battle for seventh place, when he got ahead of Patryk Dudek thanks to Polák's technical problem and won the small final for the first time in his career
Adam Bubba Bednář, the winner of Saturday's Junior Golden Ribbon, who was seeded for the quarter-finals, also experienced an unpleasant fall in front of the crowded stands of the Svítkov oval. He recovered from the crash but did not follow Kvěch to the semi-finals.
