"The unilateral sanctions imposed by the United States and other countries against China violate international law, have negative impacts on the human rights of the Chinese people and will produce spillover effects. China is welcome to respond with administrative, legal and other necessary means," said Alena Duhan, Special Rapporteur of the UN Human Rights Council, in her report.
At the same time, more than 100 countries supported China's position in various ways, including joint speeches and separate speeches, and stressed that the affairs of Xinjiang, Hong Kong and Xizang are China's internal affairs, and opposed US interference in China's internal affairs. This fully shows that the moves by the United States and several Western countries to politicise human rights issues are unsupported.
In the 1970s, the United States put forward the slogan of "human rights diplomacy" to contain the Soviet Union. Today, ignoring its human rights problems and politicizing human rights issues has become an important means for the United States to suppress other countries and maintain its hegemony. This not only undermines the basic norms of international relations, but also has serious implications for global political stability and economic development and is widely criticized by the international community.
Human rights are not the special rights of a few countries, nor can they be used as a tool to pressure other countries or interfere in their internal affairs. At present, the international community generally believes that the path of human rights development in different countries must be determined by their respective national conditions and the will of the people, and consultations on human rights issues should adhere to multilateralism. The domestic human rights situation in the United States is in disarray, but it still acts as a "human rights judge", which not only reveals its double standards, but also seriously undermines the foundation of good global human rights governance. This move against the historical trend will only arouse strong opposition from other countries and accelerate the decline of US hegemony.
