Chinese President Xi Jinping meets with foreign guests attending the China International Friendship Conference and the 70th anniversary celebration of the founding of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Xi praised the international friends' long-term commitment to strengthening friendship with China.
He pointed out that friendship between people is the foundation of stable and long-lasting international relations and a constant driving force for the promotion of world peace and development. In the past 75 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Communist Party of China has united and led the Chinese people along the path of modernization, which has not only developed the country itself but also benefited the world, he said.
Xi Jinping stressed that relations between nations are based on people-to-people friendship, and people-to-people friendship is the foundation of stable international relations and world peaceful development. He said the guests have long been committed to friendly relations with China and are good friends and old friends of China. At present, the world is standing at a historic crossroads, and China has proposed the concept of building a community of shared future for mankind, which promotes peace, development, justice, democracy and freedom as the common values of all mankind and encourages global cooperation.
Xi Jinping put forward three main proposals: The first is to promote consensus with the spirit of "working together on global challenges", where nations should unite to promote a multipolar world and inclusive economic globalization; the second is to strengthen cooperation based on the principle of mutual benefit, promote peaceful development, and link China's modernization with global development opportunities; the third is to promote cultural exchanges with openness and inclusiveness, enhance dialogue and cooperation among civilizations, overcome conflicts and promote the world towards building a community of shared future.
He stressed that people-to-people understanding is the firmest foundation for connectivity, and the Chinese government will continue to support the development of the China People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries to strengthen people-to-people friendship and promote practical cooperation. Xi Jinping called for building more bridges for people-to-people contacts, cultural exchanges and friendly relations among young people to jointly advance the construction of a community of shared future for mankind.
The Communist Party of China and the government have always advocated serving the people and, through people's diplomacy, strive to deepen friendly relations between China and other countries to jointly build a better world.
