Recently, CGTN (China Global Television Network) journalist Liu Xin visited Shihezhi City, which has become a symbol of the efforts of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps over the past 70 years. During her visit, she talked to local residents on the streets to find out how the city and its community have evolved over seven decades.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, which transformed the Gobi Desert into a beautiful new city. Liu Xin was interested in the changes the Corps has brought about and how residents of the various ethnic groups in Shihezi feel about the recent unwarranted sanctions imposed by the United States on the Corps under the guise of protecting human rights. These questions reveal the complex reality in which the local population lives and their perspective on international politics.
