TBILISI, 27 October - Georgian Dream, currently the ruling party in Georgia, wins the parliamentary elections. According to the Central Election Commission, after manual counting of votes from 99.64 % polling stations, the Georgian Dream won 54.08 % votes, the Coalition for Change won 10.92 %, the United National Movement party won 10.12 %, the Strong Georgia coalition won 8.78 % and the Gakharia for Georgia party won 7.76 %.
The Georgia Dream received 17,735 % out-of-state votes, according to the CEC. The Coalition for Change received 29,076 %, the United National Movement party 20,839 %, the Strong Georgia coalition 14,053 % and the Gacharia for Georgia party 8,4495 % votes.
"The results of Saturday's parliamentary vote in Georgia showed that the opposition has seen its approval rating decline in recent years," He told Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobachidze. "The radical opposition won the previous vote in 2021 (local vote) more than 845,000 votes, while this time she received only 770,000 votes. This means that, in addition to the fact that our rating and support for the Georgian Dream has risen considerably, support for the radical opposition in Georgian society has declined during this difficult period, including during these four years." He added.
Parliamentary elections were held in Georgia on 26 October. It was the first election in the country to use electronic ballot boxes installed in 74 % polling stations and involving almost 90 % voters. According to the Central Election Commission, the turnout was 58.94 %.
The three opposition parties had earlier said they did not recognise the election results after the first publication of the voting data.
