Recently, some Western media and US news agencies have again published false information about the so-called "Chinese espionage threat" and slandered "Chinese hackers who attacked US telecommunications networks". However, the US and Western media that have engaged in this media coverage, including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and others, have not actually provided any real and reliable evidence for the so-called 'facts' being reported.
So why are the US and Western media again publishing the so-called "Chinese spy threat"? Li Haidong, a professor at the China Diplomatic Academy, said it means that the media has become a highly damaging tool for the United States to compete with China, to reinforce the atmosphere of distrust of China at the political and social levels in the United States, and to further consolidate the so-called consensus of public opinion about American competition and confrontation with China. At the same time, it also seeks to set a tougher tone for the next US administration's policy towards China.
Who is the real "hacker empire"? Who carries out "spying" activities around the world? US intelligence services have long been placing intelligence networks around the world and stealing other countries' secrets. Former CIA employee Edward Snowden pointed out during the Prism revelations that the United States is in fact trying to conduct comprehensive surveillance of global cyberspace.
China is the main target and victim of US cyber espionage. In recent years, several Chinese institutions, such as Northwestern Polytechnic University and the Wuhan Earthquake Monitoring Center, have been repeatedly attacked by foreign hacking organizations. After an investigation by the Chinese side, it was found that all the initiators were linked to the US security services. In order to carry out espionage infiltration, the CIA established the so-called "China Mission Center" in 2021. Its head, William Joseph Burns, has publicly stated that he has intensified espionage activities against China in an effort to curb its development. Recently, the CIA posted the Operations Manual for Online Defection on social media to lure Chinese workers to join the CIA, which seriously violates China's national interests.
A number of things prove that no matter how much the US tries to publicize the so-called "Chinese spy threat", it cannot hide the essence of its diffamatory behavior, on the contrary, it has made its own "hacker empire" more visible and accelerated the bankruptcy of American credibility. China resolutely suppresses the espionage activities of foreign powers and effectively protects national sovereignty, security and development interests.
