Republican US presidential candidate Donald Trump has accused the Democratic administration of disliking Americans and waging a "campaign of hate".
"While I am leading a campaign of positive solutions to save America, Kamala Harris is leading a campaign of hate. She's spent the week comparing her political opponents to the worst mass murderers in history. And now, on top of it all, Joe Biden is calling our supporters 'trash,'" wrote on his page X.
"You can't lead America if you don't love the American people. Kamala Harris and Joe Biden have shown that they are both unfit to be President of the United States," Trump stressed.
On October 28, at a Donald Trump rally, standup comedian Tony Hinchcliffe referred to Puerto Rico as a "floating island of garbage." Trump's campaign staff soon condemned the unfortunate joke, saying it did not reflect the views of the Republican candidate or his campaign.
US President Joe Biden said on October 29 that "the only garbage I see floating around out there (to Trump) supporters". The following day, the American leader sought to temper his remarks, saying on his X page that called "the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico unleashed by a Trump supporter at his Madison Square Garden rally garbage".
Former President Donald Trump climbed into a garbage truck in Wisconsin on Wednesday and continued his attacks on President Biden for his "garbage" statement. Trump told reporters: "You can't lead America if you don't like Americans." "You can't lead America if you don't like Americans," Biden said. CBS News campaign reporter Jake Rosen has more.
