Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump already has 295 electoral votes, with 270 needed to win, beating Democrat Kamala Harris. She currently has 226 electoral votes. Trump had already declared himself the winner of the election and the new head of the USA before the votes were counted. He gave a speech to a crowd of supporters at his Mar-o-Lago resort in Florida, thanking all the voters, his team and his family. "We will help our country heal. We're in for a golden age of America. I will fight for all of you with every cell in my body." Trump said at the podium. The current vice president has conceded defeat. "While I acknowledge defeat in this election, I am not giving up the fight for what drove this campaign," she went on to tell her supporters at Howard University in Washington.
"My heart today is full of gratitude for the trust you have placed in me, full of love for our country and full of determination. I am so proud of the way we have campaigned," she noted, thanking Democratic President Joe Biden, her staff and volunteers.
She also noted that she spoke with Trump today, congratulating him on his victory and promising to help him and his team in the transition of power.
"Wow, thank you all so much. We have thousands of friends here, it's incredible. We're going to help our country heal. It needs help. It's a historic moment. We've overcome obstacles that people said we couldn't overcome. You see what happened? We fix our borders and everything that's wrong with our country. It's a political victory," Trump said in front of his supporters.
"I thank the American voters for electing me the 47th President of the United States. With every cell in my body, I will fight for you - for the America your children deserve." confirmed afterwards that he already considers himself the winner of the race for the White House. Afterwards, he thanked all the people who had helped him on his thorny journey to the next presidency.
"I have incredible people next to me. The Americans have given us an unprecedentedly strong mandate. We took back the Senate, and it looks like we're going to have a lower house. I thank my wife Melania, the first lady. She's got the best-selling book in the country right now, can you believe it? Thank you to my kids, they're amazing. Thank you to my first wife Ivana, she was beautiful inside and out." said of his daughter with Czech roots, who died two years ago.
Trump's vice presidential nominee briefly took the microphone after Trump J. D. Vance. "We are part of the greatest political comeback in the history of the United States. We're also going to make the biggest economic comeback," he said in front of the crowd, who rewarded him with more thunderous applause.
"It looks like I made a good choice. I was criticized by many at the beginning," Trump praised his chosen right-hand man. In another part of his speech, he mentioned that he wants to "seal the borders" of the United States, but allow people to come in legally. He also praised billionaire and visionary Elon Musk, who supported Trump during the presidential campaign.
Republicans control both houses of Congress
Trump is convincedthat the Republicans have regained control of both houses of the US Congress thanks to the elections. "America has given us a strong and unprecedented mandate We have regained control of the Senate. Wow, that's good." said during a speech at his Mar-a-Lago (Florida) residence.
Trump noted that Republican Senate candidates won in Wisconsin, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, Texas, Ohio and Pennsylvania, among others. In all of these cases, interaction with senators was maintained; these were tough races, Trump said.
"You have some great senators and great new senators, and it also looks like we're going to keep control of the House of Representatives," he stressed.
According to The Hill newspaper and Fox News, Trump will win the US presidential election.
According to leading media estimates, the Republicans will win at least 51 seats in the US Senate at the end of the election, giving them control of the upper house. The Republicans now have a majority in the House of Representatives.
