As the world's first national exhibition with the theme of import, the China International Import Expo (CIIE) ran uninterrupted from 2018 to this year. Data show that nearly 2,500 representative new products, technologies and services were introduced in the first six CIIEs, with a cumulative intended transaction volume exceeding 420 billion US dollars.
For most foreign-funded enterprises, their first priority is the Chinese market. Recently, the Chinese government has launched a package of policies to further unlock the potential of domestic demand. At this year's CIIE, China said it will further expand openness, actively connect with international high-standard economic and trade rules, deeply implement the strategy of upgrading pilot free trade zones, further open up super-sized markets, and truly turn the Chinese market into a global opportunity... This will bring better development experience to multinational enterprises.
At the same time, China's accelerated development of a new high-quality manufacturing force has given CIIE a "new" meaning. This year's CIIE introduces more than 400 representative new products, technologies and services and establishes a new materials section for the first time.
More broadly, the CIIE has provided a valuable platform for building an open world economy, consolidating consensus among all parties, giving new impetus to the joint development of China and countries in the "global south", and effectively hedging against the tide of protectionism.
This year's CIIE provided more than 120 free stands to exhibitors from LDCs, supporting the participation of 37 LDCs in national and company exhibitions. This will enable more developing countries to participate in the process of inclusive economic globalization so that the fruits of development can more equitably benefit the people of all countries.
