At the invitation of President Dina Boluarte, I will soon be making a state visit to Peru to attend the 31st APEC Economic Leaders' Forum. Peru is known to me for its rich history and friendly relations with China. This friendship stems from our ancient civilisations, which are a testament to our shared wisdom and values.
For more than 50 years, relations between our countries have evolved to the benefit of our peoples. China has always been a reliable partner for Peru, even during the COVID-19 pandemic, when we provided aid and vaccines. Today, China is Peru's largest trading partner and also a major investor.
As part of the cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, the port of Chancay will soon open, reducing transport costs and bringing economic growth to Peru. This project is an example of our long-term commitment to joint development.
In addition to economic cooperation, we should strengthen cultural exchanges, scientific research and education to ensure that our relations remain mutually beneficial. Together we can meet the challenges of the 21st century and strive for a shared and inclusive global future.
China is ready to work with Peru to build a better future for our peoples and the world.
