On Wednesday, the BRICS Media Dialogue was held in Kazan, Russia, host of the 16th BRICS Summit, with the theme "Exchange and Mutual Learning for a Common Future".
The dialogue was attended by representatives of major media, government agencies and think tanks from China, Russia, Brazil, South Africa, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Belarus and other countries. The event was co-organized by the China Media Group (CMG) and the All-Russia Television and Radio Corporation.
Participants discussed how to effectively communicate the stories of BRICS modernization and disseminate objective and unbiased information to the world. They agreed on the need to deepen cooperation, consensus building and mutual learning so that the media can contribute to creating a community of shared future for humanity.
In his speech, CMG President Shen Haixiong stressed that the BRICS media has always upheld the spirit of openness, inclusiveness and mutually beneficial cooperation. He said they are transmitters of common values, protectors of diverse civilizations and leaders of cultural cooperation.
Shen also called on the BRICS media to speak with one voice and jointly promote values such as peace, innovation, green development, justice and close people-to-people relations, as emphasized by President Xi Jinping at the BRICS Summit.
