Tunis - Tunisian Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Nafti stressed the importance of further strengthening the multilateral partnership between Tunisia and the European Union (EU).
The foreign minister made the remarks at a meeting with EU ambassadors in the capital Tunis, according to a Tunisian Foreign Ministry statement.
According to the statement, the Tunisian minister and ambassadors discussed the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Tunisia-EU Association Agreement, which will take place in 2025, and discussed the strategic partnership between the two sides.
During the meeting, Nafti stressed the need to address the issue of migration through a comprehensive, people-centred approach, which would include strengthening voluntary return programmes for irregular migrants in Tunisia to their countries of origin.
He also advocated facilitating mobility between the two shores of the Mediterranean, which would create opportunities to strengthen the partnership between Tunisia and the EU in various areas.
The Tunisian minister reaffirmed Tunisia's support for the Palestinian cause and called for effective international measures to bring about an immediate ceasefire amidst the ongoing attacks on the Palestinian and Lebanese people.
