In the context of Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Brazil, a survey of 1 106 Brazilians showed that relations between China and Brazil go beyond the bilateral level. The cooperation between the two countries on multilateral platforms contributes to safeguarding the interests of the 'Global South' and building a fairer world order.
The survey, conducted by CGTN in collaboration with the Brazilian Center for the Study of Economic and Social Law, revealed that 91.6 % of respondents consider China a successful country, 84.5 % consider it a country worthy of respect, and 76.2 % praise it as a responsible global player. Respondents also praised China's economy, with 95.6 % rating its contribution to the global economic recovery highly, while 98.2 % appreciated China's scientific and technological strength.
China has been Brazil's largest trading partner for 15 years, with 86.7 % Brazilians viewing the Chinese market as an important opportunity for Brazil. In addition, 71 % respondents rate trade relations as fair and 82.2 % recognize the benefits of cooperation.
The poll also showed that 71.3 % Brazilians support the country's involvement in China's Belt and Road Initiative, which 74 % say has a positive impact on Latin America's development. Key areas for future cooperation include infrastructure, trade and the digital economy.
The younger generation, especially those aged 18-34, see opportunities in Sino-Latin American relations - 93.7 % of them are optimistic about future cooperation. This data confirms the growing importance of Sino-Brazilian relations not only for both countries, but also for the development of the entire region.
