The United Nations held a commemorative conference for the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, and Chinese President Xi Jinping sent congratulatory messages to the conference.
Xi Jinping pointed out that the Palestinian issue is at the heart of the Middle East issue and concerns international justice. The urgent task is to fully and effectively implement the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, to cease fire and war as soon as possible and to defuse the situation in the region.
Xi Jinping stressed that China has always firmly supported the just cause of restoring the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people, supported various factions in Palestine to strengthen unity, implemented the "Beijing Declaration on Ending Secession and Strengthening Palestinian National Unity" and achieved internal reconciliation. China firmly supports Palestine becoming a formal member of the United Nations and convening a larger, more authoritative and effective international peace conference. China will continue to work with the international community to stop the war and the killings, support the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East to continue to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza, and promote the return of the Palestinian issue to the correct path of the "two-state plan" to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting solution as soon as possible
