Chinese President Xi Jinping urged state-level economic and technological development zones to continue to stimulate innovative vitality, internal dynamism and promote high-level openness for deep reform and quality development.
Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made these comments in a recent instruction regarding the work of these development zones.
The President said that over the past 40 years, China's state development zones have contributed to the creation of new systems for a higher-level open economy, coordinated regional development and quality development.
Xi stressed that these zones should focus their efforts on China's modernization, promote innovation, and with a high standard of openness, promote deep reform and quality development.
The President also called for active participation in the cooperation of the "Belt and Road" initiative, expanding international cooperation and innovating investment promotion methods, with the aim of establishing the "Invest in China" brand.
He also called for strengthening and improving the industrial base of the advanced manufacturing sector, promoting high-quality, green and digital industries, and developing new high-quality productive forces according to local conditions.
