Smartwings flew 8.3 million passengers last year

Smartwings carried 6.5 million passengers on scheduled and charter flights last year, up 20.1 % year-on-year. In terms of the number of passengers carried, Smartwings surpassed the pre-pandemic level of 2019 by 16.3 %. The company carried a further 1.85 million customers on board its aircraft on flights for other carriers. A total of 8.3 million passengers used Smartwings' services last year. The total number of flights operated by the Smartwings group in 2024 rose to 53,338 (+11 %). Smartwings aircraft landed at 318 airports worldwide last year.

Smartwings recorded the largest year-on-year increase in the number of passengers carried in the Czech Republic. From Czech airports flew with Smartwings 4.3 million of passengers, year-on-year by 18.2 % Read more. The company offered air connections from 6 Czech airports (Prague, Brno, Ostrava, Pardubice, Karlovy Vary, České Budějovice). In addition to the Czech Republic, Smartwings also operated flights from Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Germany, Portugal and the Canary Islands. The busiest months last year were the summer months of July and August, when Smartwings carried approximately 1.3 million passengers each month. The average passenger load factor last year was 86.11 %.

Last year Smartwings again successfully passed the IOSA operational safety audit of IATA, the international organisation of air carriers. A valid IOSA registration is considered proof of an air carrier's reliability and high level of safety.

The largest Czech air carrier was also successful in tenders for leasing its aircraft with crews (ACMI contracts) to foreign airlines (Eurowings, Sunwing, Air Transat, Binter, Spice jet, flydubai, Transavia, Israir).

This year, Smartwings expects further strong demand in the summer season and a further increase in passenger numbers. The existing fleet of 46 aircraft is expected to grow by a further 6 new aircraft in 2025.

During the current winter schedule, Smartwings operates direct flights from Czech airports to more than two dozen destinations. There are regular flights to Dubai, four Canary Islands (Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura), Madeira, Mallorca, Málaga, Madrid, Valencia, Paris, Tel Aviv, the Egyptian resorts of Hurghada and Marsa Alam and Antalya in Turkey. Smartwings charter flights for travel agents during the winter from Prague go to Bahrain, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Kenya, Cape Verde, Zanzibar and Egypt.
