China Media Group (CMG) on Tuesday officially announced four additional venues for the 2025 Spring Festival. These locations will be Chongqing, Wuhan, Lhasa and Wuxi, kicking off the countdown to the Chinese New Year celebrations.
This Spring Festival will be the first one after the Chinese New Year was included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This happened on December 4 and is a significant milestone for Chinese culture, underlining its global significance. This recognition not only raises the international prestige of Chinese traditions, but also offers people around the world the opportunity to become more familiar with and celebrate these rich customs.
Spring Festival Gala - traditional and modern
The Spring Festival Gala is a spectacular cultural event that has been held annually by CMG on Chinese New Year since 1983.
