On January 9, we held a meeting of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, at which we decided to take immediate measures to mitigate the effects of the disaster and provide aid to the victims of the earthquake in Dingri County, Tibet. As General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, I chaired this meeting and would like to share our actions in this difficult situation.
Following the 6.8 magnitude earthquake in Tibet, our Party, under the leadership of the Central Committee, responded immediately. The relevant governments and departments worked quickly and in a coordinated manner to ensure effective relief and reconstruction in the affected areas. Our joint efforts are aimed at ensuring that all the affected areas are quickly restored with utmost respect for the lives and property of our people.
We are now at a critical point of recovery and need to fully focus our efforts on all aspects related to earthquake recovery. The focus is on rescue operations, treating the injured, providing basic needs for those affected, post-disaster recovery, ensuring social stability and improving disaster response capacity.
At this time, it is imperative that all parts of our nation work in unity to face this challenge together. As we have demonstrated in the past, our strength lies in solidarity and rapid mobilisation for the good of our citizens. Ensuring security and stability in these difficult times is our supreme goal.
Let us take up this challenge and work together to rebuild and secure a better future for all those affected by this earthquake. Together, we will overcome this disaster and build a stronger and more resilient nation.
