Candidates can practise the Unified Entrance Examination tests from previous years in the application TAU and the InspIS SET Mobile app. Test assignments are also available for download on the website Cermata. On the web Education in data then pupils and parents can find information on secondary school capacities, the results of the uniform entrance examinations and the success rate of school students in the matriculation examinations. They can then compare the results of the mock tests with the requirements of their chosen school to better estimate their chances of admission.
During the mock entrance exams, which will take place on 28 January, pupils can try writing tests at school and experience an atmosphere similar to the real entrance exams. The novelty is aimed at pupils in Grade 9, but secondary schools can also organise them for candidates for further education. The tests in mathematics and Czech language and literature will be corrected by teachers at the schools. The keys to the correct solutions and email and telephone support for the assessors will be provided by Cermat.
Registration for the 1st round of the entrance examination will take place from 1 to 20 February. It is possible to apply for up to five courses (three courses without a talent test, two courses with a talent test). There is still the possibility to apply in three ways: fully electronically, by traditional paper application and by hybrid application. Some new functionalities have been added to the DiPSy application system to facilitate the application process. These include searching for schools using filters, automatic checking of age and field of application and bulk export for schools.
"The system remains stable so that schools and pupils have enough time to prepare. Minor legislative changes to regulate the admissions process should apply from next year," said Minister Bek.
According to qualified estimates, 102 500 9th grade pupils are expected to take the entrance exams. The number of admissions to secondary schools (excluding multi-year grammar schools) is expected to be 111,500, i.e. approximately 9-10 thousand applicants should apply from elsewhere than directly from primary school. The Ministry of Education and Science is registering applications for increasing school capacities and enrolment in new subjects. The school capacities for this year's admission procedure will be known at the end of January.
As of 30 September 2024, the total capacity of secondary schools in the Czech Republic was 691 585 places. The number of pupils is estimated to be 480-500 thousand.
