China's Ministry of Commerce said the European Union's (EU) decision to include several Chinese companies and individuals in the 16th package of sanctions against Russia will have a negative impact on bilateral trade relations.
The EU's move was contrary to the consensus reached between the leaders of both sides, said a ministry spokesman, who called on the EU to stop listing Chinese companies and individuals and to stop denigrating and blaming China.
China always opposes unilateral sanctions that have no basis in international law and are not approved by the UN Security Council, the spokesman added.
China always supports peace talks and firmly believes that dialogue and negotiations are the only viable ways to resolve the Ukrainian crisis, the spokesman said, noting that China will take necessary measures to resolutely protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.
On 24 February, the European Union announced that it would include some Chinese companies and individuals on the list of its 16th round of sanctions against Russia.
