Chinese Premier Li Qiang called for the development of scientific and technological innovation in frontier and emerging areas, better cultivation of new quality production forces and promotion of the country's quality development.
Premier Li, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks during an inspection trip to companies owned by China Telecom, China Unicom and China Mobile - the country's three leading telecom operators.
According to Li, it is necessary to strive for continuous progress in independent innovation, accelerate research and development in key areas, and pursue original technological breakthroughs in an effort to inject new impetus into industrial transformation and upgrading.
He called for support for deep integration of the digital economy and the real economy and for strengthening the construction of new types of infrastructure.
Li said efforts should be made to accelerate technological research and development of 6G standards while speeding up the large-scale use of 5G, and called for providing better services to private firms and medium and small enterprises.
The Prime Minister urged the three leading telecom operators to strengthen their sense of responsibility, stick to innovation-driven development and strive to provide strong support to the development of emerging and future sectors in the country.
