The third and final day of the opening Grand Prix of the 2025 Road World Championship season, the Thailand Grand Prix in Buriram, brought some thrilling racing. After Saturday's MotoGP sprint, José Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) won today's first race of the season in the Moto3™ class, while Manuel Gonzalez (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) celebrated victory in the Moto2™ class, where Czech Filip Salač (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team) was ninth. The Royal Cubature race was a battle for victory between the Márquez brothers. The second event of the season is Argentina on 16 March.
Marc Márquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) took the win, with Alex Márquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) second and Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) third. The best non-factory rider was fourth Franco Morbidelli (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing), with the best of the rookies an excellent fifth Ai Ogura (Trackhouse MotoGP Team).
After the start, Marc Márquez kept the first position, Francesco Bagnaia moved into second place after contact with Alex Márquez, Alex Márquez was third, and Ai Ogura was fourth, who managed to be third in the standings for a moment.
On lap eight Marc Márquez had a technical problem, probably not getting a gear as he should have, and his brother Alex immediately took first place. However, Marc Márquez regained the necessary speed and began to fight hard for the race lead.
Halfway through the race, Alex Márquez led the field of Royal Cubature drivers, closely followed by Marc Márquez, who kept pushing his brother. On lap 16, Honda's best-placed rider to date, Joan Mir (Honda HRC Castrol), crashed from an excellent seventh position.
With three laps to go, Marc Márquez took over the lead and immediately began to pass his brother Alex, leaving him with a 1.3 second advantage going into the penultimate lap. Third placed Bagnaia was three tenths behind second placed Márquez and definitely planned to attack the Spaniard before the finish to at least partially eliminate Marc Márquez's points advantage.

The first sprinter's race of the season was dominated by Marc Márquez, who didn't give anyone a chance in Buriram. He crossed the finish line more than a second ahead of his brother Alex Márquez, who finished second. This time Francesco Bagnaia had to settle for third place. Ai Ogura surprised by finishing fourth in his first MotoGP race, with Franco Morbidelli and Pedro Acosta taking fifth and sixth respectively. Fabio Quartararo was rewarded as seventh overall, followed by Brad Binder in eighth, Joan Mir in ninth and Johann Zarco in tenth.

Marc Márquez is the leader of the standings with full points. All in all, the following standings are valid after the Thai weekend:

Manuel Gonzalez (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) started the 22-lap Moto2™ race from first position, with Celestino Vietti (Team HDR HEIDRUN) second and Aron Canet (Fantic Racing Lino Sonego) third.
Czech driver Filip Salač (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team) started the first race of the 2025 season sixteenth from the sixth row.
The race was won by 2.6 seconds by Manuel Gonzalez, leader of the Moto2™ standings after the first race of the season. Aron Canet crossed the line second, with Senna Agius winning the battle for third. Diogo Moreira was just off the podium and Marcos Ramirez was fifth. The best rookie in the first race of the season was Daniel Holgado in eighth. Filip Salač of the Czech Republic passed Alonso Lopez at the end and crossed the finish line ninth.

Matteo Bertelle (LEVELUP-MTA), Stefano Nepa (SIC58 Squadra Corse) and José Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) started the 19-lap Moto3™ race from the front row. The trio of Scott Ogden (CIP Green Power), Luca Lunetta (SIC58 Squadra Corse) and Alvaro Carpe (Red Bull KTM Ajo) started from the second row. David Almansa (Leopard Racing), Joel Kelso (LEVELUP-MTA) and Taiyo Furusato (Honda Team Asia) started from the third row.
The race was won by José Antonio Rueda, who takes full points and leads the Moto3™ Championship standings after the first round of the season. Second place went to Alvaro Carpe after a close finish, with Adrian Fernandez crossing the line third. Just off the podium, Stefano Nepa finished fourth and Matteo Bertelle fifth. On the last lap, Scott Ogden crashed just before the finish, making contact with Jakob Rosenthaler. Fourteenth-placed Adrian Cruces (CIP Green Power) lost one position for passing under the yellow flag. That left only fifteen riders to finish the race, so whoever finished today scored points.
