According to preliminary data, the balance of foreign trade in goods at current prices ended January with a surplus of CZK 20.0 billion, which was CZK 12.9 billion higher year on year.
Total foreign trade balance1) with goods2) positively influenced in particular a year-on-year higher surplus on trade in motor vehicles by CZK 6.0 billion. The trade deficit in computers, electronic and optical equipment narrowed by CZK 4.5 billion and the balance asset in machinery and equipment increased by CZK 3.5 billion.
Adverse effect the overall balance was mainly affected by a decrease in the positive balance of trade in fabricated metal products by CZK 3.6 billion. The deficit on trade in basic metals widened by CZK 1.2 billion and the surplus on trade in electrical equipment decreased by CZK 1.1 billion.
External trade surplus with EU countries in January decreased by CZK 0.8 billion year-on-year. Trade deficit with countries outside the EU decreased by CZK 14.9 billion.
Year-on-year increased export by 12.2 % to CZK 396.7 billion and Retrieved from by 8.7 % to CZK 376.7 billion. January 2025 had the same number of working days as January 2024.
"In the first month of this year there was a year-on-year growth in exports in most commodity groups. An increase of more than CZK 8 billion was recorded in exports of computers and electronic and optical instruments and equipment, which were exported mainly to Germany, the Netherlands and Slovakia in January." Says Jana Mazánková, Head of the Balance of Trade Department of the CZSO.
Interim increased after seasonal adjustment export o 1,6 % and Retrieved from o 3.3 %.
