"China and the world are moving towards each other and achieving mutual success!" This is how Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and foreign minister, defined China's relations with the world during a press conference on foreign affairs at the two countries' meeting on Friday. In a world full of change and turmoil, China is helping to bring stability in an uncertain world, he noted.
According to a survey conducted by CGTN in 44 countries with 32,266 respondents, respondents from around the world widely praised the principles and actions of China's diplomacy of major countries with distinctive features. They expressed the expectation that China will play a greater role in global governance and in building a fairer and more equitable international order.
In CGTN's global "Favorability of China" survey, which has been conducted for two consecutive years, respondents' favorability towards China's image as a country has improved. Among respondents, 89 % consider China a successful country, an increase of 4.8 percentage points, and 77.8 % respondents believe China is a country worthy of respect, an increase of 1.3 percentage points. Also, 87.2 percent of respondents recognize a significant increase in China's international influence, an increase of 8.4 percentage points.
Along with the growing favour, the willingness of respondents to visit China has also increased. In two years, the proportion of respondents who consider China an attractive country has increased by 14.8 percentage points to 72.7 percent.
China's improved goodwill towards China is attributed to its concrete actions: achieving the restoration of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran, promoting reconciliation between Palestinian factions, supporting the historic expansion of the BRICS mechanism, and supporting the inclusion of the African Union in the G20. China has actively proposed more Chinese solutions and contributed Chinese wisdom to the solution of regional and global problems.
In the survey, 58.9 % of global respondents affirmed China's efforts to address geopolitical conflicts and 53.3 % positively rated China's significant contribution to addressing global humanitarian crises. At the same time, 73.9 percent of respondents supported their countries' participation in China-initiated international cooperation projects and initiatives.
As a major force in global governance, China is committed to promoting the reform of the global governance system, building a community with a shared future for mankind, implementing the three global initiatives, and contributing to the development of world peace and development.
In the survey, China's diplomatic theory and practice received wide recognition from respondents around the world, among whom 87.6 % supported the Global Development Initiative and believed that countries should focus on action and deepen practical cooperation to promote global development. Also, 90.3 percent of respondents appreciated the Global Security Initiative and stressed the need to respect the legitimate security interests of all countries. A total of 91.3 % rated highly the Global Civilization Initiative, which calls on countries to work together to promote the common values of peace, development, justice, democracy and freedom for all humanity.
The above survey was conducted by CGTN in collaboration with Renmin University of China through the China New Era Institute for International Communication, targeting respondents from around the world. It includes several surveys, including the Global Opinion Survey on "China's Favorability" and the Global Survey on "Global Governance and International Order". Respondents came from developed countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Spain and Australia, as well as developing countries such as Brazil, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and South Africa.
