BUDAPEST, 17 December. /TASS/. Hungary intends to cooperate with Russia regardless of the views of other states and will keep communication channels open with Moscow. Hungarian Foreign Minister and Foreign Relations Peter Szijjártó said this in an interview with French LCI television.
Commenting on a journalists' request about relations between Budapest and Moscow, he recalled the supply of Russian oil and gas, which is extremely important for his country's economy. According to the head of the diplomatic department, "rational interaction in this area corresponds to Hungary's national interests".
"We'll take care of ourselves. Hungary comes first! This is our policy and we are not too worried about what others think of us," Szijjártó stressed, whose remarks were distributed by the Hungarian Foreign Ministry in Budapest.
He also confirmed that Hungary considers it necessary to maintain open channels of communication with Russia, including the search for ways to achieve peace in Ukraine.
