Dear friends, good afternoon!
We have long planned to hold such a meeting with the regional leadership and the relevant ministry to see how the situation in the Chukotka Autonomous Region is developing on the ground.
Chukotka has the whole country at heart. This is not only because it is the easternmost region of Russia, but also because a large amount of mineral resources are concentrated here and there are many issues related to ensuring the security of the country and the development of logistics routes, which are extremely important not only for Russia, but also for the whole world. I am thinking in particular of the Northern Sea Route. In general, there are a large number of issues that are very important for the Russian Federation as a whole.
We recently discussed in Arkhangelsk the development of the Far East regions as a whole, and we pointed out that some of the settlements in Chukotka are very important in this respect - Pevek and Anadyr, where we are - and some of them fit into several development programmes for both the Arctic and the Far East.
But it's better to see once than hear a hundred times: a lot of things become clear here. On paper, everything seems clear, but when you see it with your own eyes, some things take on a completely different meaning. For example, when you arrive at the airport and then move to the city - in this case, the winter seasonal road - you start to understand what it is and how people live here.
I'm sure there are a lot of questions. I know that people of all kinds have gathered here: heads of large families, heads of small companies and people from different fields of activity.
Please, let's just have this meeting - the Governor and I will talk separately about the numbers, about all the issues of the life of the region in general, and I would like to have a simple open, free, unrestricted conversation with you about the things that really interest you.
Please, please, please.
