South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said Friday that the country welcomes the interim measure approved by the majority decision of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which orders Israel to take all possible measures to prevent the genocide of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. On 29 December 2023, South Africa filed a request with the ICJ to initiate proceedings against Israel for alleged violations of Israel's obligations under the Genocide Convention in relation to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
