The US economy is the strongest in the world. Today we saw further evidence of this as we saw another strong payroll and employment increase of more than 350,000 in January, continuing the strong growth from last year. Since I took office, our economy has created 14.8 million jobs, unemployment has been below 4 % for two full years, and inflation has been at a pre-pandemic 2 % for the past six months. The great news for working families is that wages, wealth and jobs are higher now than before the pandemic, and I will not stop fighting to cut costs and build the economy from the middle out and the bottom up. I will continue to stand in the way of efforts by Republicans in Congress to enact massive tax breaks for the wealthy and big corporations, cut Medicare and Medicaid and Social Security, and raise costs for American families.
