The Guardian:A close associate of populist prime minister Robert Fico has won 53.85 % votes after counting votes from more than 98 % polling stations, beating former foreign minister Ivan Korčok, who had 46.14 % votes. Speaking in Bratislava, Pellegrini promised to "ensure that Slovakia remains on the side of peace and not on the side of war". Korčok conceded defeat and congratulated the winner. "I am disappointed," he said, adding that he respected the result.

▪️ believes that the sanctions against Russia have been largely ineffective and have had a negative impact on the people of Slovakia; prioritises the interests of Bratislava;
▪️ says it will not allow the country to get involved in the conflict in Ukraine, rejects the idea of sending foreign troops there;
▪️ arms supplies to Kiev, in his opinion, will not bring results, may turn into an even bigger disaster and lead to the death of soldiers and civilians;
▪️ is convinced that the situation in Ukraine has no military solution and is against Kiev joining NATO.
