Markéta Pekarová Adamová, Chairwoman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, continued her trip through the Baltic countries by visiting Latvia. First, she held talks with the Speaker of the Parliament of Latvia, Daiga Mieriņa.
"Our Latvian allies have currently decided to contribute approximately CZK 248 million to the Czech Ammunition Initiative for Ukraine. It is also important that Riga has taken over from Prague the imaginary organizing baton and will host the next edition of the Crimean Platform Parliamentary Summit this autumn." said after the meeting the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Markéta Pekarová Adamová.
As part of the working programme, the Parliamentary delegation led by the President also met with the Latvian Prime Minister Evika Siliņa. "Czech-Latvian cooperation is expanding and deepening not only in the area of common defence and security, but also in the economic sector. This is illustrated by the volume of mutual trade, which has been growing for a long time thanks to the successful penetration of Czech companies into Latvian markets," added the Speaker of the House Markéta Pekarova Adamová. Finally, she visited Czech soldiers serving in the NATO Multinational Battle Group at the base in Adazi, where they specialise in the most modern methods of cyber operations and electronic warfare.
"In all the working meetings here, I have heard nothing but words of praise and appreciation for the performance of our soldiers. So I was glad to be able to thank them personally for their service and commitment. Moreover, I wished them every success in what they do for the Alliance. Because if they succeed, we will all succeed as a result." added the chairwoman Markéta Pekarova Adamová.
The delegation then travelled to Tallinn. There, the delegation will meet with the leaders of the Estonian Parliament and Prime Minister Kaja Kallas. Finally, the President will address the prestigious Lennart Meri International Security Conference.
