President Petr Pavel and his wife Eva Pavlová concluded their two-day visit to the Pardubice Region on Wednesday 22 May.
On Tuesday, the President began his visit at Explosia, then proceeded to the Regional Office, where he held talks with the Governor Martin Netolický and the leadership of the Region. Yesterday he also visited the Central Emergency Reception of the Pardubice Region Hospital, the Air Training Centre, the State Material Reserves Administration and the Hamza Hospital in Košumberk. In the evening, the President debated with citizens in Vysoké Mýto.
"In the Pardubice Region I encounter a number of problems that are also found in other parts of our country. Not only do we have three structurally threatened regions, or economically socially threatened areas, but we also have a number of specific municipalities or associations of municipalities that fulfil these characteristics and yet are not covered by any programme," the President said after a meeting with the region's leadership. According to the President, attention must be paid to measurable quality of life parameters that ultimately influence where people want to live.
The presidential couple began their Wednesday programme at the farm U Svatého Jána, where they also held a debate with farmers. The President also visited the Museum of Old Machines and Technologies in Žamberk, had lunch with the mayors in Králíky and visited the Police Service of the Czech Republic. The President ended his visit with a walk from Kramář's cottage to the artillery fortress Bouda.
"As far as the future is concerned, we will not be making any more major regional visits in the coming weeks, given the upcoming elections. There will be a short visit to the two counties I visited before the inauguration. After that, we will take a look at a summary and analysis of all the themes that emerged during all the visits.," the President said at the end of his visit to the Pardubice Region.
