On June 21, 2024, the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States (TECRO) held consultations in Taipei with representatives from the U.S. Department of State and Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The consultations focused on expanding Taiwan's meaningful participation in the UN system and other international forums.
Taiwan's world-class expertise adds significant value in addressing today's most pressing issues, including international public health, food safety, aviation safety and climate change. Taiwan has demonstrated its ability and willingness to help address global challenges and support the international community. U.S. participants reaffirmed the United States' longstanding commitment to Taiwan's meaningful participation in the United Nations system and the international community, including the World Health Organization and the International Civil Aviation Organization.
Our support for Taiwan's meaningful participation in international forums is in line with our One China Policy, which is guided by the Taiwan Relations Act, the Three Joint Communiqués and the Six Assurances.
