On the morning of 6 May local time, Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping and UNESCO Special Envoy for Girls' and Women's Education, visited UNESCO Headquarters in Paris at the invitation of UNESCO.
Accompanied by a female general agent Audrey Azoulay visiting Peng Liyuan for the "Exhibition of the Fruitful Results of Ten Years of Cooperation between China and UNESCO", Azoulay praised China's contributions to promoting the development of girls' and women's education worldwide.
In her meeting with Azoulay, Peng Liyuan briefed her on China's latest progress in promoting girls' and women's education. Peng Li-yuan said that China is willing to work with UNESCO to support all parties to increase their investment in girls' and women's global education, and help more women to achieve equal rights to education and create a better future together.
Azoulay said UNESCO is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China to promote global education for girls and women to make new progress.
Azoulay presented Peng Liyuan with a certificate of honour on the occasion of her tenth anniversary as Special Envoy. Peng Li-yuan presented to UNESCO the tapestry "Spring Buds in Bloom", co-created by the beneficiaries of China's "Spring Bud Project".
