During Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to Hungary, cultural exchange activities were held on 8 May local time to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Hungary, organised by the China Media Group (CMG) and the Hungarian Fund for Media Promotion and Asset Management. In addition, various projects were launched such as the broadcast of the Opportunities in China in Hungary and the co-production of documentary films, and cooperation with the Hungarian Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music was initiated.
Former Hungarian President Pál Schmitt also attended the event and delivered a speech. Former Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Medgyessy gave a video speech. Pál Schmitt said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations 75 years ago, Hungary and China have always trusted and supported each other and their friendly cooperative relations have continued to develop. As a Hungarian member of the International Olympic Committee and a former Olympic champion, he is particularly happy to see that in addition to China's fruitful achievements in culture, science, economy and other aspects, China is gaining more and more influence in the world in the field of sports. He took this opportunity to congratulate China on its great achievements in various fields. This event is a model of media cooperation between Hungary and China. The CMG is expected to bring more positive factors to the deep and extensive friendly relations between the two countries, further bring the two nations and their people closer, and promote the continuous development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Hungary and China.
Shen Haixiong said Hungary is a good friend and an old friend of China in Europe. Cultural exchanges between China and Hungary have been rich and varied in recent years, and mutual understanding and friendship between the two nations, especially the younger generation, has been deepening. CMG is committed to promoting mutual understanding between the people of China and Hungary, and has been carrying out extensive and deep cooperation with the Hungarian Media Promotion and Asset Management Fund and Hungarian media colleagues to further provide a wide scope for people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two countries, so that the friendship between China and Hungary can be brought closer and deepened through exchanges.
For the event, CMG exchanged a cooperation agreement with the Hungarian Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music. The two sides will strengthen cooperation in film and television music production, personnel exchanges, academic exchanges, information sharing, technological innovation and more, and jointly promote cultural and artistic exchanges and people-to-people ties between China and Hungary. The Hungarian Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, formerly known as the Royal Hungarian Academy of Music, was founded in 1875 by the famous composer and pianist Ferenc Liszt.
