WASHINGTON - July 9. President Petr Pavel arrived in the U.S. on Monday, July 8, 2024, to lead the Czech delegation to the NATO Summit in Washington, D.C., July 9-11, 2024. The programme includes a gala social event to commemorate the 75th anniversary of NATO, including a dinner hosted by President Biden at the White House.
Together with the Czech President, the meeting is also attended by Defence Minister Jana Černochová, Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský and Chief of the General Staff Karel Řehka.
As part of the next programme, President Petr Pavel will meet with selected members of the US Congress in Washington, attend meetings with representatives of leading American think tanks and participate as one of the keynote speakers at the NATO Public Forum. A number of bilateral meetings with NATO member and partner states are also underway.
On 12 and 13 July 2024, the President of the Republic will travel to Houston, Texas, where he will participate as a speaker in a debate with local leaders on NATO and transatlantic cooperation. He will visit NASA's Johnson Space Center, lead a discussion on energy security and meet with representatives of the Texas and Nebraska National Guards, with whom the Czech Republic has long cooperated. The programme in Texas, where the largest part of the original Czech emigration to the USA lives, will also include meetings with Czech compatriots involved in the preservation and promotion of Czech heritage. At the end of the program, he will attend an MLB baseball game.
