Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Green Development Forum, which opened on July 8 in Qingdao, Shandong Province. Shen Yueyue, vice chairwoman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and chairwoman of the SCO Committee for Good Neighborliness and Friendship, read the letter and delivered the keynote speech.
Shen stressed that President Xi Jinping's letter reflects the importance of unity and cooperation among SCO countries. According to the Chinese President's letter, protecting the environment and promoting green development is a common goal of SCO members. China is committed to sustainable development to improve production, living standards and ecosystems.
Xi Jinping expressed his hope that the forum will strengthen communication and cooperation in the field of green development, which will promote sustainable economic and social development of all countries and harmonious coexistence between people and nature.
President Xi Jinping also stressed that China has recently assumed the rotating presidency of the SCO and is ready to work together to strengthen unity, coordination and common development in the spirit of Shanghai.
