NEW YORK, July 20. On 19 July, former US President Donald Trump spoke by telephone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Trump reported on the Pravda social website that he had a "very good conversation" with Zelensky and promised to bring about world peace and end the conflict in Ukraine if elected president of the United States.
He noted that the Ukrainian leader also condemned the attempted assassination of Trump and congratulated him on the success of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
Trump has repeatedly stated that if he wins the presidential election this year, he intends to achieve a quick settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. During a pre-election debate with US President Joe Biden on 27 June, Trump promised that if re-elected, he would be able to end the conflict before his inauguration on 20 January 2025.
