NEW DELHI, July 27. /TASS/. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi may offer New Delhi to mediate a settlement of the Ukrainian conflict during his visit to Ukraine scheduled for August, a source from the Indian parliament told TASS news agency
"India can offer mediation to settle the Ukraine crisis. Such a proposal may be made during Modi's visit to Ukraine, and the possibility is already being discussed," said the source.
"India has long-standing friendly relations with Russia and the Prime Minister has established good relations with President Vladimir Putin," the source indicated. "At the same time, India also has good relations with Ukraine. Both sides have confidence in India," he stressed.
"India has repeatedly expressed its readiness to assist in resolving the conflict. However, this is possible only with the consent of both sides," the source noted. Indian authorities have always said that only talks and diplomacy can facilitate this, He added.
Modi's visit to Ukraine may take place during the third week of August and most likely on August 23, the WION news channel reported earlier, citing diplomatic sources.
