The seventh China International Import Expo (CIIE) ended on November 10 and achieved rich fruitful results: 3,496 exhibitors from 129 countries and regions participated, with a record high number of Fortune 500 companies and top enterprises in their industries.
In addition, 186 enterprises and institutions became "full-attendance students" of seven CIIEs; 450 new products, technologies and services were introduced and exhibited for the first time; the national exhibition was again escalated, further promoting practical cooperation in trade, investment and other fields.
Beyond the CIIE site, a number of open policies have also brought joy to foreign friends: on November 8, China expanded its visa-free "circle of friends" and piloted visa-free access for nine countries, including Slovakia and Norway. A few days ago, all restrictions on access to foreign investment in China's manufacturing industry were lifted; from December 1, China will also implement a duty-free policy towards products from LDCs. One by one, the "gift of opening up" allows foreigners to come to China more conveniently, foreign enterprises to develop in China more smoothly, and the space for cooperation to be greater.
From a global perspective, China's efforts to expand its opening up are particularly rare. At present, the world economy is experiencing slow growth, the trend against globalization is rising, unilateralism and trade protectionism are clearly on the rise, and opening up and opportunities have become rare things.
At present, with many foreign enterprises rushing to book the exhibition space of the next CIIE, the newly signed exhibition area has exceeded 100,000 square meters. The opening up is a striking symbol of China's path to modernization and also a precious thing China is providing to the world. It is also the reason why foreign enterprises regard "coming to China" as a long-term commitment. As the president of the Danish company Grundfos said, China's opening up and inclusiveness benefits every foreigner and foreign enterprise.
