Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian chaired the regular press conference. A journalist asked about the visit of German officials to Taiwan.
Lin Jian expressed the view that there is only one China in the world. Taiwan is an inseparable part of Chinese territory. The One China Principle is a universally recognised norm in international relations and a consensus of the international community, as well as the political basis of relations between China and Germany.
We call on the German side to adhere to the One China principle, to stop any form of official communication with Taiwan and to stop sending the wrong signals to the separatist forces of 'Taiwan independence'.
He was also asked on the Philippine statements regarding the South China Sea. Lin Jian said any escalation of maritime disputes between China and the Philippines was due to Philippine provocations and disruptions. The Philippines was the first to commit rights violations, and China was therefore compelled by law to take necessary measures to protect its legitimate interests. If the Philippines stopped its provocations, the situation at sea would remain calm.
According to Lin Jian, China is willing Work with all parties to comprehensively and balance the implementation of the APEC Putrajaya 2040 Vision, promote the positive outcomes of this meeting, inject new momentum to promote regional economic integration, foster growth in Asia and the world, and work together to build an Asia-Pacific Community with a shared future.
