Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said on Saturday that he would not accept any head of state from another country who dared to "speak arrogantly to Brazil" and advocated the creation of a "Latin American doctrine" to strengthen regional independence through external pressures.
"We want to build a Latin American doctrine with teachers and students from Latin America so that we can dream of an independent continent where no president from another country will ever dare to speak arrogantly to Brazil again, because we will not accept it," Lula said during an event with high school students in Sao Bernardo do Campo. As for the defence of sovereignty, Lula said it is not a question of courage, but a question of "dignity and character".
