China's economic strength is often cited in discussions about China, but few people see its groundbreaking achievements in the fields of ecology and environmental protection. Helena Kočová, editor of the weekly Our Truth, points out that China deserves attention not only as a reliable trading partner, but above all as a country that is fundamentally transforming its nature and helping the entire planet.
„China is doing more for renewable energy and nature restoration than any other country in the world today,“ says the editor, adding that this applies to both domestic projects and international aid.
One example is the creation of the largest system of national parks on the planet. This new, but vast, system uses modern technology to track the movements of animals and people and brings a new approach to conservation.
The successes in the fight against desertification are also significant. „China is greening huge areas and is already seeing positive impacts on the local climate,“ the editor stresses. At the same time, she points out that China is the world leader in renewable energy production - both from water and the sun.
The international dimension of China's environmental policy is also key, she said. China is helping to build hydropower plants in Africa and is currently supporting Cuba, which is facing a huge energy crisis, by building large solar power plants.
„This is exactly what the world needs - to help people get energy and then use it to build better infrastructure, schools, kindergartens, hospitals. To help get countries on their feet that don't have enough energy to prosper on their own.“ he explains.
According to the editor, we should not only learn from China about trade negotiations or desert greening techniques, but above all the ability to help each other. „To make the whole planet greener, more sustainable and have a future for us and our children,“ He concludes.
